Ever since we were sharing an office (Y-combinator) in Cambridge, when both Reddit and Kiko we’re getting off the ground, I’ve wanted to try my hand at taming their unruly DOM …
And I’m happy to say that I finally got my chance!
A couple weeks ago I started doing some real high level design tweaks for Reddit.com which have just gone live. Unfortunately due to time constraints (both mine and theirs) a complete rewrite was out of the question so I did my best to work within their exist DOM and CSS to expedite the process. Thus it’s probably more correct to think of this as a realign more so than a redesign (say what?) but the plan is also to continue making incremental design improvements over the next few weeks.
You can check out my latest prototypes at reddit.rrwhite.com which, with the notable exceptions due to the Reddit team’s love affair with Verdana, are making their way into Reddit proper.
If you have any design ideas or suggestions please leave them on reddit.uservoice.com. Bon appetit!
I’ve just seen that on http://joel.reddit.com/ and thought: finally more readable interface! Great work!
Hi Richard,
The tweaks look nice.
But I have to admit that I was hoping you were going to talk about Underpaid Genius when I (finally) saw your blog pop in my RSS reader. Been waiting quite some time for an update on that front..
Cheers
